Vitamin C
The primary focus of Hyperbaric Therapy of Dublin in the use of high-dose IV vitamin C is to treat a wide variety of chronic conditions.
Our Approach provides help and hope to individuals struggling with a long-term illness, while focusing on getting and staying healthy, rather than symptoms. There are many conditions that may benefit from IV vitamin C therapy. Some of those are: arthritis, Lyme disease, bacterial infections, viral infections, pain after injury, Hepatitis, Measles, Mumps, Viral Encephalitis, Chickenpox, Herpes, Viral pneumonia, flu, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Strep infections (including throat infections), Dysentery, Pseudomonas, and Staph infections. There are also many more in which Vitamin C is probably effective. In addition, Vitamin C has been shown to neutralize the effects of Ethanol, Barbiturates, Carbon Monoxide, Mushroom toxins, Strychnine, Tetanus toxins, a wide variety of venoms, and many other chemicals. In short, Vitamin C can be effective for virtually any infectious or toxic agent.
The key to using Vitamin C is in the route of administration and the dose. It is typically only effective when given either IV or with IM injection. In addition, large does must be given, and in serious conditions, the dose must be repeated as often as necessary. This can mean dosing every 2 hours for some patients. Vitamin C is extremely safe, with the main problem being seen in some patients with G6PD deficiency (all Patients are pre cleared for this). Doses in these reports ranged from 50 to 150 gm intravenous per day, with no adverse effects reported.
Myers Cocktail
Intravenous (IV) vitamin and mineral therapy to a large degree was originally developed several decades ago by the late Dr. John Myers in Baltimore, Maryland. He had discovered through his own clinical practice that the adjunctive use of intravenous vitamin/mineral infusion therapy (aka the Myers’ cocktail) could be significantly helpful for many patients suffering from chronic inflammation, slow cellular or connective tissue healing, or body healing in general. IV Therapy could be helpful to speed up recovery following surgery or physical trauma, improve clinical detoxification, and enhance energy and metabolic efficiency. IV Therapy could also be very helpful to more expediently correct nutritional deficiencies such as iron, magnesium, zinc, or other trace minerals. In addition, Dr. Myers noted that patients with simple infections, such as a cold or flu, and even those suffering from more complex infections, such as pneumonia, could improve the speed of their recovery by the utilization of these IV vitamin infusion therapies.
The standard Myers’ Cocktail consists of magnesium, calcium, vitamin B-5 (dexpanthenol), vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B-12 (hydroxycobalamin), vitamin B complex, and an average of 25 grams of Vitamin C. Two time Nobel Laureate Dr. Linus Pauling was a staunch supporter of Vitamin C for healing a wide variety of health problems. Vitamin C is an important antioxidant that helps the immune system ward off bacterial and viral infections. It also makes certain metabolic processes in work better. The therapies are individualized depending on the clinical laboratory chemistries of each patient. The general rationale nutritionally is that an IV infusion will bypass the limitation of the digestive tract and its own mitigated ability to absorb directly and enhance the plasma or blood availability of any given nutrient. Therefore, deficiencies, once diagnosed, can be corrected with a few IV vitamin infusions administered over one to three weeks in what might otherwise have taken two to three years of oral supplementation to restore normal levels. In that context, it can provide a much more helpful or accelerated cellular rejuvenation and response.
Many people who have benefited from this protocol claim that the intravenous shots of vitamin B12 in Myers’ Cocktail are even more beneficial than Vitamin B-12 intramuscular injections in restoring their energy and stamina. Intravenous treatments are more effective than oral therapy for increasing blood levels of nutrients. According to some experts, intravenous delivery may improve the transport nutrients from the blood into the cells

What is the duration of Treatment?
Patients vary in the number of treatments needed, but most require infusions 1 to 2 times per week. Some patients experience improvement after only one treatment, and many report significant healing by the fourth infusion. People who have chronic conditions may need ongoing treatment of several IV’s per week, or periodically every few weeks to regain their energy.
How is the protocol given?
All the ingredients are mixed with 200mL sterile water in an IV bag. It is infused slowly over a period of 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Is It Safe?
Myers’ Cocktail is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive therapy that is well tolerated by most people. It carries a low risk of serious adverse side effects. if the protocol is administered quickly there may be a sensation of warmth and flushing. This is due to the rapid rise of magnesium. Some patients may also have the taste of vitamins in their mouth shortly after they are given the infusion. Potassium level should be checked periodically.
Patients taking digoxin (Lanoxin®) or potassium-depleting drugs should be cautious and should inform physician on staff that they are using these medications before beginning the Myers’ Cocktail protocol.
Chelation
Chelation therapy is used as a means of purging toxic metals and minerals from the body.
The most common and toxic heavy metals that can poison our systems and lead to fatigue and illness are iron, lead, cadmium, and mercury. Iron is by far the most common of the heavy metals that predisposes individuals to heart disease. It promotes free radical activity and thereby leads to accelerated arterial damage. Lead and cadmium are common industrial pollutants that also foster free radical activity and poison critical enzymes that repair tissue. Mercury is found in some kinds of seafood and in dental fillings. Its toxicity can depress the immune system and cause an array of symptoms. Getting the iron, lead, cadmium, and mercury out can be accomplished with chelation therapy. The active ingredient in Chelation, EDTA, a powerful antioxidant, enters the bloodstream and is able to latch onto heavy metals (like a claw) and transport them out of the body through the urine. EDTA is stable and safe to administer, which both prevents and can reverse heart disease, atherosclerosis, and the other problems.
Beyond its effects on heavy metals, Chelation helps to remove inappropriate accumulations of calcium from tissue. Calcium gravitates to atherosclerotic plaque in blood vessels, leading to arterial narrowing and blockage. Chelation gently and gradually mobilizes calcium from plaque, restoring elasticity and flow to blood vessels. We have seen marked improvement in high blood pressure, angina, leg cramps and diabetic leg ulcers, as well as improvement in mental alertness and memory, due to improved blood flow to all areas of the body. The intravenous solution containing EDTA may include additional vitamins and minerals specific to your needs. The rate of infusion varies, depending on the type of Heavy Metal Detoxification recommended, and may take up to three hours to administer. Most patients will need 30 to 40 treatments or more, to achieve optimum benefits.
Over the years, Chelation Therapy patients have shown some of our most astonishing progress due to this therapy. If heavy metal contamination could be a potential source of your chronic health issues make an appointment with a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy doctor today.
